The 2017 International Legal Aid Group conference, the first held in Africa, saw an unprecedented number of Africa legal aid providers in attendance. At a side meeting of Africa legal aid providers, called by Legal Aid South Africa, it was agreed that a voluntary association of legal aid providers would be established, in order to share relevant information and documentation.
The African Network on Legal Aid is the resulting web-based knowledge repository, allowing the public to locate legal aid providers in Africa.
