BUSINESS APPLICATION SOFTWARE MANAGER

Applications are invited from persons interested to fill the above-mentioned position. The incumbent will be appointed on a permanent basis. The position is based at the Legal Aid SA National Office in Braamfontein.
KEY OUTPUTS
- Develop and support Enterprise Business Applications.
- Collaborate with business units to manage the conversion of high-level requirements into functional specifications and provide direction to application development staff.
- Ensure that the organisational standard operating procedures are followed to effect change to the current systems and when employing new systems.
- Develop and manage a controlled change management environment to deliver stakeholder satisfaction through quality applications.
- Contribute to the development and review of the Information Systems Strategic plan and policies.
- Keep up with Information Systems trends and evaluate new technologies for business benefits.
- Manage and supervise the progress of all project activities to ensure that the anticipated outcomes/products are attained within specified time frames.
- Responsible for service level agreements and performance management of the applications portfolio.
- Partner with leaders from different sections to ensure that delivered solutions are aligned with the Information Technology Enterprise Architecture Roadmap.
- Experience in operating in a project-oriented environment with the ability to report the project status to different management levels.
- Hands-on abilities for troubleshooting and solving software application problems.
- A knowledge of cloud-based services with a passion for all things tech.
- Ensuring an effective and reliable business intelligence environment.
- Establish an e-Learning platform that will be used for employee training programmes.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES)
- A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- A postgraduate qualification in Computer Science/Information Technology will be an added advantage.
- Ten (10) years of relevant work experience in Information Systems, of which five (5) years should be at the middle management level.
- Project management experience is essential.
- IT generalist experience is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of business applications and business processes.
- Ability to benchmark against national leading practice and work with the Executive to develop the organisation’s business application software management practice.
- Effective working relationship with the Information Systems team.
- Effective working relationships with the Information Services Executive, other executives and senior managers.
- Excellent analytical skills, business acumen, the ability to deal with ambiguity, meet demanding deadlines and manage projects.
- Advanced people skills are necessary.
- Knowledge of ERP systems.
- Service excellence imperative.
- Multi-level and diverse stakeholders.
- Complexity in co-ordinating across organisational levels.
- Networking with relevant stakeholders.
- Integration across all the business units.
SALARY: Level 13 (R1,162,200.00) all-inclusive package per annum
